jayden was one of the rare few who knew of her prior existence within the organization. there is only so much one can do to hide themselves from their colleagues, especially when she'd worked in such close quarters with this one's mother and father. her younger days, hazy as they are, are clumsy. messy.

just messy enough to leave a lasting impression on the man she's meeting. 

"of course," she says at his thanks, waving him off. 

to the matter at hand: "you're the expert here. i'll follow your lead."

perhaps it was flawed.

[break][break] his blind loyalty when it came to any member of rocket - especially the ones that were connected to his own family ties. perhaps he should have been a little more suspicious when it came to those connections, should have wondered a little bit more about that it was that would cause someone to leave rocket.

[break][break] for him, he considered it the same as the reason he had left.

[break][break] because he'd truly thought that it was over. rocket had been pulled apart, left to disintegrate into the sands alongside silas blackwell.

anya is not one for conversation or for indulging others in matters she keeps so close to heart. the comradery, the need to feel like part of a family, the sense of belonging over spilled blood - none of it has ever swept her as romantically as it has her colleagues. 

here is one such man who believes foolheartedly wholeheartedly in their organization. to her, it's a means to an end. everything on this cold, empty rock is. 

"curiosity," she says, gaze flicking decidedly towards him.

[break][break] that explained nothing, but then again, it wasn't as if he was expecting it to. everyone had their own reasons for joining in the organization and while he couldn't exactly sympathize with all of them, he understood most of them.

[break][break] there is only the sound of footsteps - feather-light - against the floor as they head to their destination. silence fills the space, but not in a way jayden finds uncomfortable.
